Assistant Coach (Youth & Adult Programme)

Position: Assistant Coach
Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week (with opportunity to increase)
Rate: Competitive (based on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

London Parkour Project is looking for committed and thoughtful individuals to join our coaching team across both youth and adult classes.

This is not just a supervision role — we are looking for people who want to develop others, contribute to a structured coaching environment, find it rewarding to see others improve, and grow within a high-performance culture.

You will support lead coaches in delivering sessions, maintaining safety, and helping build a positive, disciplined and engaging environment for participants of all ages and abilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with set-up, pack-down, and equipment safety checks

  • Support coaches in delivering structured sessions

  • Help maintain a safe, focused and positive training environment

  • Engage professionally with both parents and adult participants

  • Manage entry/exit of participants where required

  • Provide light coaching support where appropriate

  • Uphold the standards and values of London Parkour Project

Who This Role Is For

 

We are specifically looking for individuals who see coaching as more than just a job.

Strong candidates typically:

  • Have a genuine interest in mental health, personal development, or coaching

  • Are curious about psychology, sociology, and how people learn

  • Enjoy mentoring and guiding others, not just instructing

  • Have a coaching mindset (or are actively developing one)

  • Value discipline, structure, and consistency

  • Think in a technical, athletic, and developmental way

  • Have an interest in how systems, movement, or training methodologies work

Background & Experience

Preferred:

  • Experience working with groups (children and/or adults)

  • Experience in coaching, teaching, or leading sessions

  • Experience designing or running your own classes

  • Blue Band Elite Parkour Athlete or above

Strong Indicators (not required but highly valued):

  • Background in sport, martial arts, athletics, or gym training

  • Personal training, sports massage, or coaching qualifications

  • Experience in structured training environments

  • Familiarity with long-term skill development

Core Skills

  • Strong communication across different age groups

  • Ability to manage behaviour while maintaining a positive environment

  • Conflict resolution and professionalism

  • Reliability and consistency

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • DBS check (within 3 years)

  • Safeguarding certification

  • First Aid certification

  • Public liability insurance (if coaching independently)

  • Experience with indoor and outdoor training environments

  • Familiarity with London Parkour Project systems (e.g. grading system)

Recruitment Process

  1. Application via email

  2. Shortlisted candidates invited to a 2-hour in-person assessment

  3. Successful candidates enter a 6-week trial period

  4. Followed by a 3-month probation period with training and evaluation
